Rough Day

This was a hard day for me.  I had to stay after and do game duty.  I did walk a ton tonight in supervision but not the type of walking that would do me any help.  Eating was the toughest part of tonight.  I stayed away from the snack bar with pizza and chips.  My wife had made a great low calorie texmex type dinner that was good.  Long day and I'm wiped.

Average day

Food content wasn't to bad today but I only got 15 minutes of exercise in today.  I had to bike most of it as my legs hurt and I just couldn't keep up with the elliptical.  Hopefully tomorrow will be better and I will try to beat the superteachers best of 6:23 on the elliptical!!!!  Bring it on girls.... :)

hello world

This trying to eat healthy is hard. It's hard to pass up that awesome chocolate cupcake, those salty savory chips, to not eat that extra bowl of pasta.  I know for me that I can't go cold turkey (even that phrase has food in it) with my eating habits.  I'm trying to change a little at a time.  It's hard, very hard.

Dang Internet

Trying to switch service cost me quite awhile on the Internet so we have been  unable to check up on all of you and keep you updated on ourselves.  A few new things have happened.  My teammates at school and myself are working out just about everyday at least once, if not twice.  Things will be much easier at home now that I have fixed our treadmill.  SEARS came out to do an estimate (freakin' ripoff) and then wanted to charge me $240 to fix the piece (the belt itself only cost $20).  I asked the guy if I were to do it myself, what would I do so he showed me.  Pain in the butt which I think I burned a few calories beating the treadmill and calling it a few encouraging words.  As for the eating, I'm going to try and add a breakfast now to my diet everyday. I was never a breakfast person but I'm going to try and see how that goes.  Talk to you all later.

Sorry, It's been awhile

It's been awhile since I've written anything here.  Our internet was shut off by our phone company a week ahead of when I was getting switched to another provider.  Anyways, the diet goes well.  Haven't been that bad on the cheating, it's just trying to make sure I get enough low calorie good food to fill me up.  We're still doing at least 20 minutes of exercise a day (want to up that to 40 soon).  The other day I was able to do a mile on the elliptical in under 8 minutes (a personal best).

Chubby Hubby here

Here I am today.  Chipmonster tried to strike today with some tasty, delicious, mouth watering Lays Barbque chips but I shunned with a Nabisco 100 calorie snack bag.  Also, I did 2 miles on the elliptical today at school.  I am trying to figure some at home exercises my wife and I can do together.  I want this to be something WE do, not that we do separately...

Wifey checks in

Wednesday, January 9th.

Rebecca here!  I convinced my husband to do this with me and he is going all out and I am not doing so well :(  He has access to exercise equipment at work and I do not and our treadmill has stopped working.  The repairman can't come until the 21st.  If I had called the repairman and not my husband, I would have said, "This is a fat emergency!  You have to get here soon!"  The weather has been awful and my job has been stressfull but last night I marched in place with my 5 year old daughter while she counted steps for me.  We high stepped to 100, jogged to 100, wiggled, bounced, and anything else I could think of for 15 minutes.  I'm proud of myself for jiggling what I have for at least a small amount of time.  My daughter actually yelled, "It's working, you're getting skinnier!"  Who can give up with that kind of encouragement?

Who has good ideas for burning calories while trapped indoors?

Monday, I hate Mondays

Husband - I worked out at school today for roughly 20 minutes.  Since my calf muscle was really cramping up, I just rode the bike lightly.  Did try to drink more water today.  Food was much better today although tonight I found an open bag of chips (ummmmm goood)...didn't eat but one handful and I'm leaving them open so they get stale and i have to throw them out..  bought a bunch of the 100 calorie snack bags for home for my wife and I..  I really want to get smaller and healthier..

Day 4 I think

I know this whole weight loss thing is all about making small choices that can lead to a lifestyle change.  Yesterday I think I was able to make one of them when I passed up on the usual chocolate chip cookies.  That night I passed on a beer and had a glass of water.  It's hard to make the changes but we're trying.

Today, I plan to call Sears to see if they can come and fix my treadmill (conked out on day one).  My friends at work, the Superteachers, are going to make sure that for at least 10 minutes everyday, we'll either walk or do the elliptical machines.

My wife and I just want to get healthy and thinner for our 2nd annual beach trip with our kids.

Day Three

Today was better.  More water, less soda, got on the elliptical with my team mate from the SUPERTEACHERS!!!  It was nice to work out with someone.  I do have to say however that I did find out I muscles I didn't know were there.  It kicked my butt!!!!!!!!!!

Day Two of Journey

Well, everything started with the best of intentions and then it happened.  The dang treadmill decided to not help us right now.  It had other ideas of like quitting.  We are going to call the service people tomorrow and see if they can come save it from an untimely trip to the recycling plant.  On a positive note, we have both added much more water to our diets. This will be so much fun with my wife and friends involved.  We both want to get healthier for us and our children's sake.

On a side note, GO STEELERS and WVU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fitness Plan begins

Day one of the fitness plan!  My husband Patrick and I are starting an exercise plan  today.  We are both teachers and today was supposed to be our first day back to school after winter break.  Mothernature sent a snowday so we are using the time to jump on our plan.  We are resolving to do some sort of resistance training every day and to walk on the treadmill or outside.  We are keeping a log of how many miles we walk and we are competing on a weekly basis.  Each Friday evening we are compiling the previous week's miles walked and the winner has to come up with a menu and grocery shop for the next week.  We weigh in Saturday mornings though we have no plans for a competition on that just yet. One thing at a time.
